Shakespeare certainly knew of these two famous lovers from earlier plays in his repertoire. In fact, Venus and Adonis were also the first play written by Shakespeare and published.The play is based on the relationship between a man and a woman. The woman is Venus, played by a delightful actress, Elizabeth Barry, and the man is Adonis, played by the ever-enthusiastic John Keats. The play begins with a wedding ceremony between the two lovers. Once the wedding is over, Venus flies away with her lover and disappears from view.Why should anyone consider Venus and Adonis essay topics? Well, for one thing, this play is long. It can last for a couple of hours or even longer depending on which reading you choose. If you are expecting your children to read it to them, you will have to make sure you limit the number of characters that they see.You do not want to tell them that Adonis i s dressed as a butcher or a prostitute. The same goes for Venus. If you do not want to expose your children to too much detail about the lives of the lovers, you need to stick to one character for each. In fact, you should read only one play, Venus and Adonis, before moving on to another one.One of the advantages of Venus and Adonis is that it does not move on to the next person in the story until the reader has had enough time to get to know them. But don't think you can have one character is well known before the others. Again, this play moves along at a very fast pace. So you have to remember that the earlier oneends, the more interesting the next one is. But remember that you are writing this play as a personal essay and not as a school assignment.The first scene is important in Venus and Adonis. It begins with a funeral, which adds an extra dimension to the whole play. This funeral also happens to be presided over by Apollo, the god of poetry. Because of the influence of Apollo , the couple's funeral speech is greatly enhanced.Why did Shakespeare make verse plays into tragedy? One reason could be that he wanted to find a middle ground between tragedy and comedy. Other people believed that Shakespeare wanted to break the tragic king Edgar in love with a tragic queen Guinevere. There is no doubt that Shakespeare wrote this play as a tragedy. Still, that does not mean that it is not a comedy.Venus and Adonis are also a comedy, but not just because there is a love triangle. In fact, a lot of the play centers on the way in which Aphrodite, Venus, and Adonis become lovers. They all seem to become drunk on love and have trouble remembering why they are supposed to be together in the first place.
